What is Cops for DAV?
Who We Are:
We are a group of New York City Police Officers from the 41st Precinct in the South Bronx and Police Service Area #7 (PSA 7), that have joined together to give back to the men & woman that served in our military. Our efforts driven by the shared understanding of the special needs of our disabled veterans and our desire and obligation to support them.
Over the past 3 years, in conjunction with the American Legion Post 1600, we have coordinated a fundraising campaign from September 11th to November 11 (9/11 to 11/11, Veterans Day) to raise funds dedicated to a single purpose of building better lives for our nation’s disabled veterans and their families
Proceeds from our fundraising efforts have been donated to Disabled American Veterans (DAV). DAV offers a wide variety of programs and initiatives to serve those who served. Assistance is provided in various ways; helping veterans obtain earned benefits, transportation to/from hospitals, relief from disasters, and educating the public about disabled veterans’ issues.
Last year’s event was a tremendous success due to the generosity of all our sponsors and all who participated. With Corporate and Community Support, along with local law enforcement agencied throughout the tri-state area, we were able to raise over $37,000 for the purpose of enhancing and furthering the work of the DAV.
